50-Ways-Graphic-final-web #11 Bus Drivers

One of the most important ministries here at Crossroads involves serving the needs of the people of Washington and the surrounding communities.  A critical need is providing bus transportation for our many servants.  We take people out into the community, as well as bring others here to the Church for activities and worship.

Just recently, we have acquired two new buses that give us both the flexibility and the capacity to do more for missions and outreach.  As a result of this acquisition, we are in need of newly trained drivers.  We will train you, and prepare you to drive for the different ministries available.   Please contact John Schultz or Trevor Bartolomucci to schedule a training time if you are interested.  Consider this opportunity to be part of the amazing outreach activities that Crossroads participate in.  None of these ministries can begin without someone in the driver's seat.  We hope that someone will be you!  Do Not Waver, Serve the Savior!

Some of our current needs are:

  • Two drivers every Sunday morning to pick up those that need transportation.
  • Drivers for Missions Trips
  • Drivers for Preschool Field Trips
  • Drivers for Youth and M&M Day Trips

Qualification Requirements

There are some requirements and qualifications that you must pass in order to drive the Church buses, however a CDL license is NOT needed.

Prospective drivers of Crossroads vehicles will have a valid Illinois Driver's License.

Prospective drivers of Crossroads vehicles will comply with the following:

  • Driver Information form (available in the main office)
  • Authorization of Background Check (available in the main office)
  • Pass Driver physical and give copy of form (available in the main office)
  • Provide a copy of valid drivers license
  • Drivers must be 25 years old

Following an acceptable review of all of the above data, the prospective driver will receive approval as a Crossroads driver.

  • Before driving the Buses for an event or ministry, you MUST schedule a training time.  This will include driving instructions and safety measures.  Once trained you are able to drive for events and ministries.

Ongoing requirements to keep vehicle driver status include:

  • Maintaining a current Illinois Driver's Licesne
  • A Current Driver's physical (every 2 years)

Crossroads reserves the right to refuse approval to any prospective drivers or to cancel the approval of any current driver at any time.

50-Ways-Graphic-final-web #10 God's Chariots

This ministry was organized in 1998, recognizing that there are situations when members of our church family need assistance with transportation.  Such situations, within Washington and the nearby surrounding area, might include appointments, grocery shopping, errands, church functions and various other individual needs.

This group of dedicated volunteers, using their personal vehicles, willingly give their time (sometimes on short notice) and demonstrate such a caring attitude to those they are serving-they are truly representative of "God's hands and feet".

See the video for God's Chariots

The requests for transportation are directed to Gloria Delinger, who then contacts and available "Chariot Driver".  That driver in turn calls the individual needing assistance to make arrangements for the ride.  It is helpful to have a transportation request made at least 2-3 days ahead.  Consideration is always given to the volunteer driver's other commitments and schedules and their "comfort-zone" for driving in inclement weather or familiarity with area medical centers.

If you are interested in being a Chariot Driver or taking advantage of the services that Crossroads offers, you may contact Gloria Delinger at 745-8263 or the church office at 444-2381.  Or you can fill out the form below.  Take this opportunity to use your Chariot for God's work.  Do not Waver, Serve the Savior!
